Ken Christopher was born in Saskatchewan in 1942, and perhaps it was his prairie upbringing which inspired his keen interest and understanding of the natural environment. Whether he is painting in Alberta, New Mexico or New Hampshire, Christopher’s exuberant use of paint and brushwork magically creates a sense of place and space, capturing the essence of each of his uniquely appealing locations. He is an important contemporary landscape painter with work that is at once figurative and abstract. His brush strokes are bold and vigorous, evocative of both the land and his own joy of painting. Ken Christopher has been included in numerous gallery and museum exhibitions across Canada, including the Glenbow Museum in Calgary, the Edmonton Art Gallery, the Nickle Arts Museum in Calgary and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. His works can be found in renowned collections including the Prime Minister’s residence, the Canada Council Art Bank, Xerox Canada and Shell Canada. This is the largest painting Ken Christopher created in his career.
